What does a Landscape Inspector do?
On a daily basis our members are responsible for:
- Inspecting and approving landscape installations
- Managing and recommending landscape ordinances
- Reviewing landscape and development site plans
- Insuring proper tree care through enforcement of landscape ordinances
- Plant material is in compliance with Florida Department of Plant Industries’ Grades and Standards

- Conduct an Annual Certification Review and Examination to become a Certified Landscape Inspector

Eligibility:

The applicant must have a minimum of five years practical landscape inspection experience; or the applicant must have two years of practical landscape inspection experience and a college degree in a related horticultural field.
Acceptable practical landscape inspection experience includes: applicable knowledge of landscape plan review and; performance of landscape inspections and; experience in landscape installation and maintenance and; experience in irrigation installation and maintenance and; knowledge of plant and insect identification and; grading of landscape material and; knowledge and use of Best Management Practices.

Fees Schedule:
- LIAF Member: $175.00
- Non-Member: $200.00
- Fees include: One (1) Study manual, one (1) Review Day, one (1) copy of Grades and Standards for Nursery Plants, one (1) proctored Certification Exam. The Non Member fee also includes a one (1) year 2010 membership to the Landscape Inspectors Association of Florida. Payment in full is to be made by check or money order only. Purchase orders, credit cards, etc. are not acceptable. No refunds. Please make checks payable to: Landscape Inspectors Association of Florida

A completed registration application, payment in full, applicant’s complete resume and three professional references are required information and must be provided to LIAF upon submittal.
This information is to be considered appropriate and verifiable proof of eligibility. Once this information has been processed and accepted by LIAF, the study manual will be sent. Failure for applicant to provide required information may result in the rejection of the application.
The above listed required application information must be postmarked no later than Friday, February 26, 2010. No exceptions.
