November Seminar/Workshop - Trees to Offset Stormwater
Friday, November 30, 2018
12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
The threat of sea level rise and climate change has been an ongoing topic of discussion for South Florida and other parts of the country for over a decade. Much discussion has been had about the use of grey infrastructure as an all in one solution to the matter; however recent studies have indicated that the inclusion of green infrastructure is crucial for a more resilient future.
The City of Miami Beach has recently conducted a study in partnership with the United States Forest Service, Florida Forest Service, and the Green Infrastructure Center to look at the state of the city’s current tree canopy and its effectiveness in managing stormwater. This workshop would look at ways we can better utilize trees to offset stormwater and how to plan for a more resilient future for South Florida.
